The Raven's Nest

Walking the path of the Ancient Ones

My Thoughts On Earth Day 2008

I took a retreat day to go visit the nearby forest. While doing this video I felt such an overwhelming peace. I spent several hours in the woods and at the lake. When I got home I was a bit surprised by what I found in the video. Here is a still frame from the video, see if you can see the Goddess peering through the trees!

FAVORITE SACRED SPOTS

This is a beautiful spot near that I used to pass each day on my way to work in MD.  I have chosen this as a spot dedicated to my dear soul friend and teacher, Carregwen.   Some days I would give in to the temptation to stop and spend a few moments sitting by this stream and meditating before work.

A Sacred Altar in the Forest

While wandering in the woods in the mountains of Virginia, I discovered this amazing tree!  A natural altar in the middle of the woods.  You can see in this picture below that there are three main trunks.  A Goddess Tree!

I spent some time just taking in the energy of the tree and running my hands up and down over the bark.  I asked for one tiny leaf from this tree to put in my BOS.  I had some incense with me and lit that and a small candle and made an altar with that and the leaves.  I just stood and enjoyed this tree for some time.  When I left I crumbled up some crackers I had in my bag to leave as an offering.  (But did clean up the candle and incense, remember tea light containers are not earth friendly!)

Not far from this altar tree,

a bit of artwork was discovered among the branches.

Sure looked like a snake at first glance!

June 8, 2007 - I made the graphic above, inspired by the rather hefty thunderstorms that passed through our area earlier in the evening.  I stood outside enjoying the wind increase and cool us as the clouds began to roll over the mountain.  Amazing lightning bolts raced across the sky and the ground shook from the sound of thunder as is echoed up and down the mountain range.  Before long drops of water started teasing for a few minutes and then absolute downpour.  I felt the need to go stand out in the middle of the yard and let it completely drench me.  What an amazine feeling of total cleansing. I had not done that since I was a teen and determined I won't wait another 30 years to enjoy the rain like this again!

May every day be Mother's Day

for our earth Mother!

Honor and protect her!
