My Garden Journal

Learning how to Use Plants & Herbs

Medicinally & Magically!

SPRING 2009!  Since we have moved my gardening will take on a new twist.  I brought my larger pots with me to do container gardening on my deck and front porch.  Much easier on this aging back!   The pictures below are from my gardens at the old house.  Reality set in this past year that we just could not keep up with the yard and gardens.  Hubby likes that we have someone to care for our yard, and I can still play in the dirt with my container gardening.

My Garden Shrine to Cernunnos

Cernnunos Sleeps

The Old God sleeps
down in the dark, moist,
odorous underfoot,
Waiting for us
To put down our roots.

Winter in the garden.

My Divination Garden

My husband and youngest daughter dug this garden for me in 2006.  I included in this garden wormwood, yarrow, lavender, carnations and anise.  The photo above was taken shortly after I planted everything.  In 2007 it filled in big time!  I had to move the compass points to the edge as everything is thriving. In the fall I thinned things out for a new growing season in 2008. The garden you see in the upper left corner of the photo is my work in progress.  This is where we put my Cernnunos Shrine and I am planning a Fairy Garden there in 2008.  The inset is the first planting of my herb garden in 2006,

Now gently lies old Ireland,

 Emerald green beyond the foam,

Awakening sweet memories,

Calling the heart back home.

2008 - My culinary corner on the deck includes

Parsley, Rosemary, Sage, Dill

and 3 more varieties of sage in the planter box.

Thyme, Basil & Oregano

Yes, the Thyme is tiny, but is very special as it

is from the seeds planted at 4Q at Ostara.

It will catch up in no time I am sure!

(Plus I have a big patch of it in my other herb garden!)
