The Raven's Nest

Walking the path of the Ancient Ones

BOS

I am a firm believer in writing your own rituals, charms and spells.  That doesn't mean you can't draw ideas from others.  Just make them your own by rewording and personalizing them to your needs.  I will share here a few basic ones from my Book of Shadows and I encourage you to modify them to fit your intentions.

Intentions Rituals

When friends and family have special needs and request positive and healing energies, I write the intention on a piece of paper, date it, fold it up and place it in a special box I made for this.  I keep this box next to my desk where I will see it each day and I chant the following prayer 3 times over the basket:

God and Goddess I ask you to show,

Comfort for those whose needs you know.

Send strength and healling, wisdom and love,

Shower them with goodness from above.

On the night of the full moon or close to it, I again read aloud the intentions and then burn them in the fire with sage and lavender, offering them up to the God and Goddess in gratitude.  As they burn I chant the following 3 times:

God and Goddess,

As the prayers on these papers burn and rise,

Floating in the smoke up to your eyes,

Mighty ones,

You know the needs of these I hold dear,

Bless and strengthen them and remove their fears.

After the ashes have cooled I place them in a clay pot I have in my fairy garden.  I have a bench there and when I visit this garden I will chant 3 times:

Needs and concerns of family and friends,

I ask the God and Goddess to them attend.

TRADITIONAL NINE KNOT SPELL

This is one of the first spell's I did.  You can use a single cord in the color corresponding to your intention or I many times will take 3 and braid them.  I have included different intentions and write a chant to bless the cord first, declaring the intention for each color, then braiding it.  Pass your cord over incense, sage or candle flame to cleanse it.  Now start to make your knots:

By knot of one, the spell's begun
By knot of two, I make it true
By knot of three, so mote it be
By knot of four, the open door
By knot of five, the spell's alive
By knot of six, the spell is fixed
By knot of seven, the earth and heaven
By knot of eight, the stroke of fate
By knot of nine, the thing is mine

So mote it be.

You may not realize it, but you are creating magic each time you cook.  Combining ingredients that become something different!  As I cook I try to remember to bless my food.  For instance, when I stir something, I do it in the pattern of an invoking pentagram, giving thanks for the food and asking a special blessing on those who will partake of it.
